Candidates for Deleware's A.G. debate FOIA

Republican Ferris Wharton and Democrat Beau Biden said they have differences in how they would approach Deleware's Freedom of Information Act, which guarantees public access to government meetings and records. The Attorney General's Office is responsible for enforcing the law and representing the state's legal interests, which can create a conflict of interest if a state agency is violating the law, they said. Biden said the law should be amended to say the Attorney General's Office does not represent the state in FOIA cases against a state agency. Wharton, though, said he advocates creating a separate organization to sue the state in FOIA cases.
