East Tennessee Chapter sponsors ethics, sunshine discussion
Citizen apathy, outrage over the conduct of elected officials and low voter
turnout were discussed at a Tuesday night "Town Hall Meeting" about ethics in
Knox County government sponsored by the Society of Professional Journalists East
Tennessee Chapter. The meeting drew a crowd of about 15 people - including elected officials and
reporters - who listened to panelists discuss the Jan. 31 County Commission
appointments.
The Knoxville News Sentinel has
filed a lawsuit against the commission, saying the meeting violated the
Tennessee Open Meetings Act, also known as the "sunshine law."
