East Tennessee Chapter sponsors ethics, sunshine discussion

Citizen apathy, outrage over the conduct of elected officials and low voter turnout were discussed at a Tuesday night "Town Hall Meeting" about ethics in Knox County government sponsored by the Society of Professional Journalists East Tennessee Chapter. The meeting drew a crowd of about 15 people - including elected officials and reporters - who listened to panelists discuss the Jan. 31 County Commission appointments.

The Knoxville News Sentinel has filed a lawsuit against the commission, saying the meeting violated the Tennessee Open Meetings Act, also known as the "sunshine law."
