Judge orders "Top Secret" markings to be removed from documents in trial
Two men accused of unauthorized disclosure of classified information will be able to have a fairer trial if the "Top Secret" markings are removed from the documents in question, a judge ruled this month. The judge in the trial of Steven J. Rosen and Keith Weissman said the big stamps all over the documents would confuse the jury. While the markings show that the government intended to keep the information secret, the judge said the markings are hearsay, based on some classifier's opinion that the documents shouldn't be public.
