NASA finally releases airline safety data — en masse

As reported by The Associated Press, NASA has finally released some of the results of its air-safety study. If you remember, this was the same report that NASA refused to publish because it claimed the data would scare the flying public and hurt the airlines' bottom lines. After public outrage and congressional demands, NASA published the data, putting 16,208 pages worth on its Web site, but not offering a guide for interpreting the data. NASA may have complied with the letter of FOIA, but there was none of the spirit of the law in this data dump.
