St. Pete Times needs sports freelancers
This just arrived from former Freelance Committee co-chair, Dawn Reiss.
St. Petersburg Times is looking for free-lance sports reporters. We need
competent journalists who can cover high school games and other sporting
events (including bowling and road races) and write features and columns, if
interested. We are looking for writers who can go beyond the play-by-play
and write bigger picture stories while working for a department that earned
APSE's Top 10 Best Sports Section in 2004. Reporters need to know how to
write on tight deadlines, that sometimes only allow for 30 minutes or less
after a game, but stories are short and run in the main sports section.
Reporters preferably know how to take stats for games, but we will teach if
not. We do pay, but it is more of an income supplement that a steady salary.
