SPJ decides against signing National Geographic amicus brief

On Aug. 10, SPJ leaders decided against lending the organization's name to an amicus brief in support of National Geographic in Faulkner vs. National Geographic Society. Read the press release on SPJ's Web site.

For SPJ to have sided with the National Geographic Society in this litigation would have been a travesty and an outrage. Meanwhile, I would point out that there is a national organization that has long been committed to the defending the interests of freelance writers and journalists. It is the National Writers Union. It is on the web at: http://www.nwu.org

I renewed my NWU membership, for the second time, yesterday.
