Did anyone watch?

The Emmy Awards happened a few nights ago, and I only just realized that now.

I do like to watch TV, and this may be ignorant or stuck-up of me, but I don't enjoy awards shows. They bore me and I truly don't care who wins.

My paper and our Web site give these endless awards shows lots of space, including analysis of who won and who deserved to win, and which actor wore which designer dress.

But I don't see how that's news, aside from a short 'who won' section in features. I think these things belong in entertainment, or features sections.

Anyone willing to change my mind?

I agree, Elysse. But, at the same time, I have to share that I covered part of the Emmy's this year. My regular job, yes, is covering politics, development and other news for Irvine. But, I also am now contributing (as iGirl) to our paper's technology blog. The blog moderator, nicknamed the Gadgetress, was sent an invitation but could not cover (on bedrest and eight months pregnant) an Emmy's party hosted by DirectTV. So, she sent me. My attending was sort of wierd - but I covered it for the blog in the sense that this was all a promotion for 100 new HD channels being added to DirectTV by the year's end. To see what I wrote: copy/paste this into your brower:
