Raising LDF bucks in Detroit

I spent the weekend at the Region 4 conference in Detroit. It was a terrific conference. About 175 people signed up and a full slate of sponsors helped defray the costs for the journalists who attneded the day and a half of programs. Jeremy Steele of Mid-Michigan chapter and Steve Raphael of Detroit Pro did a great job of leading the group of volunteers who put on the conference.

One of the volunteers I met was Laurie Robison, a Mid-Michigan Pro chapter board member who is a public relations professional in Lansing. She spent the day at a table selling journalism books. A cut of the profits is designated for the Legal Defense Fund.  This is an excellent way to raise money for LDF at the your spring conferences. Thank you to Laurie for your work and the journalists from Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia and western Pennsylvania who bought books and contributed to LDF.
