FOI requests take years
USA Today takes a look at the lengthy time and trouble it takes people to get federal government information. The story is here. The Justice Department opposes the proposed changes to the federal law that require better documentation and follow through. SPJ supports the legisltation and has sent peopel to Washington to lobby on its behalf.
Speaking of Washington, I will be there this weekend for Fridays SDX awards, the annual black-tie optional affair that honors the winners of SPJ biggest journalism contest. The event is at the National Press Club. I will be attending a baseball game with members of the DC Pro chapter on Saturday.
