A Burning Question
The Press-Enterprise in inland Southern California has developed an impressive multimedia look at the costs and benefits of alternative energy options to combat global warming. Its "Future Power" project, appearing Sunday, examines how development of coal, nuclear, solar, wind and geothermal energy as well as increased conservation would affect residents of Southern California. In addition to clear and comprehensive stories, it includes photos, videos and some excellent graphics that explain how different power sources work and suggest ways people can cut their consumption. More than a dozen Press-Enterprise staffers worked on this project, including reporting by Leslie Berkman, Jennifer Bowles, Janet Zimmerman and David Olson, graphics by Chris Ramos, Becky Hageman and Maggie Delbon, flash production by Albert Corona and photography, video and slideshow production by Greg Vojtko, Rodrigo Pena and David Shea. www.pe.com/reports/2007/futurepower/
