President's Minute...
I Don't Want to Inspire You!
I refuse trying to inspire you because I'm a big believer
in this maxim: "The more you put into something, the more you get out of
it." SPJ Cleveland is the "it."
Whether you're a member or not, you can "put
into" our local chapter with one of our committees. If you want to help
with planning or promoting programming, contact Betty Clapp. If you
like membership (or want to join), get in touch with Cliff Anthony.
If you want to help out students with scholarships, contact Jae-Won Lee.
If Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws are your focus, Dick
Hendrickson is your guy. Contact info for Betty, Cliff, Jae-Won and
Dick is here... http://spj.org/cleveland/officers.htm -- If you
want to be part of SPJ's Speakers Bureau, send an e-mail message to me via
steve@lakewoodbuzz.com.
If you missed our joint Communicators Holiday
Party, you missed a great deal of fun and exchanging of business cards.
Shout-outs go to event steering committee members Gail Bialek, Lynn Bracic and
Jerry Masek for all of their "putting into" the event, making it
another huge success. Dozens of books were donated by partygoers, btw, to
help literacy efforts in Cleveland.
Special thanks to our event's sponsors: Dominion East Ohio, Hennes
Communications, Hypnosis: Time for Change, NonprofitNewswire.com and PR
Newswire. Without them, this annual event wouldn't be possible.
Well, I think my minute is up. Remember: "The
more you put into something, the more you get out of it." SPJ is it!
All the Best,
Steve FitzGerald
