CONFERENCE CALL
MEETING CALLED TO ORDER
With President Kevin Smith presiding, the meeting of the board of directors of the Society of Professional Journalists was called to order at 4:04 p.m. on Tuesday Nov. 10, 2009 via conference call.
ROLL CALL
Acting secretary Dave Aeikens called the roll to ensure a quorum was met.
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR CONTRACT APPROVAL
Upon proper motion and second by George Daniels and Luther Turmelle, respectively, the board moved to executive session to discuss the employment agreement of executive director Joe Skeel.
The board discussed the negotiations between the board representatives and Joe Skeel. Board members asked questions about some of the details. Each board member was provided a summary of the agreement.
Upon proper motion and second by Aeikens and Sonny Albarado, respectively, the board moved to close executive session.
Upon proper motion and second by Bill McCloskey and Neil Ralston, respectively, the board approved the employment agreement of Joe Skeel.
The board voted 17-0 to approve the agreement.
SHIELD LAW
The board discussed the Shield law under consideration in the senate.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting adjourned at 4:25 p.m.
