– Someone who pays close attention to journalism trends and the future of the industry, AKA News Geek.
– Someone who has experience developing curriculum or educational programming and is a whiz at getting people engaged.
– Someone who is able to work well with volunteers and freelancers to effectively motivate and organize them.

– Someone who can jump from task to task with cat-like nimbleness.
– Someone who isn’t an ass and gets along with just about anyone.
– Someone who asks a lot of questions, but knows when to shut up and get to work.

– Someone familiar with AP Style.
– Someone who cares deeply about the quality of their work.
– Someone who isn’t a wimp.
– Someone who reads this detailed description from top to bottom.

Primary duties will include:

– Work with SPJ volunteers and other journalists to develop a wide spectrum of curriculum (and delivery methods) that positions SPJ as a leader in journalism education.
– Participate in high-level, strategic planning discussions about the journalism landscape, both current and future.
– Oversee the production of Quill Magazine, SPJ’s educational member magazine.
– Oversee the educational portion of the Society’s annual conference and all aspects relating to it (speaker management, program guide, convention scheduling, etc.)
