Bredesen wants to close sex harassment records following shredding controversy
"ShredGate" stories about the sacking of top Bredesen lobbyist Mack Cooper have prompted the possible closure of public records in Tennessee.
SPJ is firmly against the creation of any more exemptions to the state public records act. Our FOI man Frank Gibson is on the case and will undoubtedly be on Capitol Hill next year to fight for some sunshine in the dark corners of state government. As was once said of the rap group Public Enemy, it would take a nation of millions of hold to him back. And this is yet another good reason why Middle TN Pro SPJ is a charter member of the Tennessee Coalition for Open Government, the new group for which Frank is executive director.
