'TennCare for sale or rent'

Back by popular demand, here were the words to the John Ford song at Gridiron, as it appeared in the script. And don't forget -- send us a little money. It's not too late to donate to Gridiron in support of the Drue Smith Scholarship.

Sung to the tune of Roger Miller's King of the Road:
My vote's for sale each day
I write laws just like you say
You call, you ask, you pay
And I'll help you get your way

Ah, but years of just slammin' doors
Those reporters can be such bores
I'm a man of means -- by ALL means ... Senator Ford

I'll take cash and dodge the press
Just don't tell the IRS
I'm stylin' in my three-piece suits
Ain't tellin' where I stashed the loot

Use every loophole I have found
I have homes in many little towns
I'm a man on means -- by ALL means ... Senator Ford

I know all of the voters and every game
All of the troopers and all of their names
And all my hot cars are fast and fun
But if ya pass, ya better watch for my blazin' gun

(I said)
TennCare for sale or rent
Seems like I'm a little bent
Too bad, it's still your fate
I'll be here 'til two-thousand-eight

Ethics folks think I have sinned
And Harold wishes that we weren't kin
I'm a man of means -- by ALL means ... Senator Ford

For those of youwho were wondering, the young man who did such a fabulous job at Gridiron in the role Sen. Ford was Renard Hirsch.
