Indiana Legislature Backs Away from HB 1083

SPJ NEWS UPDATE
11/19/2001

SPJ has learned that Indiana House Speaker John Gregg announced today that he will not ask for a vote on Indiana House Bill 1083 during Tuesday's Organization Day.

HB 1083 was vetoed by Gov. Frank O'Bannon this spring. Had the Legislature voted to override it on Tuesday, the bill would have exempted all Indiana legislators from the state's open records laws.
