INDIANAPOLIS —The deadline for the Society of Professional Journalists’ Mark of Excellence Awards is Wednesday, Jan. 23.

Annually, the Society recognizes the best in student journalism in 39 categories, including print, radio, television and online. Entries are first judged on the regional level. Regional award winners are then honored at the spring regional conferences. First-place regional winners advance to the national competition. National winners will be honored at the 2008 SPJ Convention & National Journalism Conference in Atlanta.

To be eligible, work must have been published or broadcast during the 2007 calendar year. Student members of SPJ are eligible to enter the Mark of Excellence Awards for $9. The non-member fee is $18.

For complete entry requirements and to obtain an entry form, please visit SPJ's Mark of Excellence Awards page. Programs Coordinator Heather Porter also may be contacted at (317) 927-8000 ext. 204.
