Your Staff and the Reporters Institute
The Society of Professional Journalists is looking for the best and the brightest young people those with the most potential to be great leaders in journalism. We will bring them together with some of todays leaders in an atmosphere that encourages interaction, expression and collaboration. We call it The Reporters Institute.
SPJ created the Institute because we identified a need for well-trained, well-equipped young, professional journalists who are committed to their profession and have the potential to be visionaries for the industry. We know those are the folks you want in your newsroom, and we want to help you keep them there and in the journalism profession.
During the institute, we will tackle these topics:
Writing for the Web
Video Basics
Creating Multiplatform Content
Using Census Data
Mobile Newsgathering
Freedom of Information
Active Listening
And much more!
In short, during the course of just three short days, these journalists will gain a crash course in the characteristics and techniques of exceptional journalism.
We know it's ambitious. We know it's possible. We know it's necessary. And, with over 100 years of experience aiding and equipping professional and collegiate journalists and advocating for the profession, we know that the Society of Professional Journalists is positioned to execute this program.
Join us by encouraging a young professional from your newsroom to apply and commit the resources to allow them to participate. It's an investment in their future and in your newsroom's future.
