Friday, March 8

2:30-3:30 p.m. | Registration

4-6 p.m. | Opening Session
Introductions and icebreakers to kick off a full weekend of everything SPJ.

6:30-8:30 p.m. | Dinner/Q&A with National Leadership
After dinner, catch up on the state of the society, straight from SPJ’s national leaders. Ask questions, voice suggestions and learn how you can participate on a national level.

9:30 p.m.
Meet in the lobby to board motor coaches.

10 p.m. | Duckpin Bowling
Location: Action Bowl, Indianapolis
The most celebrated, amazingly fun SPJ bonding experience of the year.

Saturday, March 9

8:30 a.m. — 12:30 p.m. (Breakfast available starting at 8 a.m.) | Understanding and Appreciating Individual Contributions
This session focuses on one thing — you. You’ll learn to better understand your personal style and increase your effectiveness when working with others.

12:45-1:45 p.m. | Lunch

2-2:30 p.m. | Rapid Fire: SPJ Need to Know
During this session, we’ll cover things you know, things you didn’t know and things you’ll want to know, all at an incredibly rapid pace. We’ll cover helpful hints from the folks at HQ, tips and tricks about SPJ.org, one of your most valuable resources, and more.

2:30-4:30 p.m. | Small Group Breakouts
— Board Development and the Leadership Funnel

4:30-5 p.m. | Rapid Fire: Web Tools for Leaders
We’ll fire a quick list of web tools that make it easier for you to do your job as a leader — from communication tools, to event planning and everything in between.

5-6 p.m. | Chapter Workbook
— Officer Information
— Social Media and Digital Information
— Program Recipe

Explore Indy
Head off with a group of your new SPJ friends to places all over the city. You’re on your own to enjoy an evening of excitement.

Sunday, March 10

9-10 a.m. (Breakfast available starting at 8:30 a.m.) | SPJ Sit Down: Idea Exchange
Sit down as a group with your peers to reflect on everything you’ve learned. Share new and old ideas, make lasting connections and even plan for future joint events.

10-11 a.m. | Taking It Home
Tell us what you liked, what you hated and what you wish we would have done. Then, write a note to yourself about things you’d like to accomplish in the coming year. We’ll mail it to you in a few weeks just to jog your memory.

11 a.m.-12 p.m. | Graduation, Awards and Goodbyes
