Journalism training, tomorrow and next week
By Christine DiGangi, SPJ Communications Department
This is the last SPJ Leads going out before Excellence in Journalism 2012. If you need to reach anyone in the SPJ office, contact us before Friday, Sept. 14. HQ staffers will be back in the office Wednesday, Sept. 26.
FREE WEBINAR TOMORROW
Join our free webinar "Mobile Newsgathering Made Easy" tomorrow at 1 p.m. EDT! Click here to register (space is limited) and come ready to learn and ask questions — you can call in or interact through a computer microphone, but there's an instant message function, too.
Society of Professional Journalists member Deb Wegner will lead the session with SPJ Director of Education Scott Leadingham.
'YOUR SPJ MEMBERSHIP' EPISODE TODAY
Join National Membership Committee Member and Your SPJ Membership Host Sarah Bauer as she begins the countdown to the Excellence in Journalism 2012 conference with SPJ President John Ensslin.
Learn more about convention speakers and sessions, how to vote for SPJ officers during convention, and what you'll find at the 2012 Journalism Expo. We'll also check in on the 2012 SPJ Membership Drive.
To tune in online here. Call in: (347) 857-2441
E1R1 MEMBERSHIP DRIVE
Spending a few days at EIJ12 will surely have you in high SPJ spirits, so share the excitement! The Each One Reach One membership drive is going on, and your input could help develop our membership base. Join the chatter on Twitter by using the hashtag #joinspj, and reach out to colleagues who you think would contribute to and benefit from the Society of Professional Journalists.
VOTE SPJ!
The first all-SPJ elections are upon us, and because this is a new process, we know you have questions. People with questions about elections can call the Election Hotline 317-721-8009 or email elections@spj.org.
Don't forget to visit Election Central and update your contact information by logging in to the members' section on spj.org or sending updated information to Tara Puckey, Chapter Coordinator.
8 DAYS UNTIL EIJ12
The Excellence in Journalism 2012 conference is in Fort Lauderdale from Sept. 20 to 22, and you will want to be connected to the action:
— Download the EIJ12 app
— Engage on Twitter via #EIJ12
— Interact with other attendees and us on the EIJ12 Facebook
— Post photos of EIJ12 to Instagram (@spj_pics) and Pinterest — we'll do the same. Check both accounts for previews of the conference!
— Also, check the website for coverage from the Working Press. If you can't make EIJ12, this is a great way to know exactly what's going on in Fort Lauderdale.
There's still time to register for the conference, too — if you know someone interested in attending or have put off registering yourself, start the process here.
LAST WEEK'S QUIZ

Answer: Condé Nast Digital, which is a division of Advance Publications. Read the New York Times' take on the owner-website relationship.
And the winner is ... David Uberti! David is a first-time winner from the Northwestern University SPJ chapter. Well done, David.
THIS WEEK'S QUIZ
