Studio SPJ will kick off a series of podcasts called "The Road to Nashville" that will preview the upcoming Excellence in Journalism 2014 conference on Sept. 4-6.

Ken Paulson will be the guest for the first of these broadcasts at 3 p.m. ET on Thursday, Aug. 14.

Paulson is the dean of Middle Tennessee State University's College of Mass Communication. He previously served as president of the First Amendment Center at Vanderbilt University, as president of the Newseum in Washington D.C. and as editor-in-chief at USA Today.

The SPJ Board Meeting will be held during EIJ from 9 a.m.-noon on Thursday, Sept. 4. The Opening Business Session will take place after from 2 p.m.-3:30 p.m. The Closing Business Session is Saturday, Sept. 6 from 3 p.m.-5 p.m. You'll receive your electronic ballot via email at the close of the Opening Business Session and can vote until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6.

Topics for discussion are decided by you!
