We're on a post-EIJ high

By Ellen Kobe, SPJ Communications Department

The Excellence in Journalism conference -- hosted by the Society of Professional Journalists, the Radio Television and Digital News Association and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists-- was a huge success in large part to our attendees, speakers, exhibitors, recruiters, performers and volunteers.

If you missed the event, or just want to continue basking in journo training, check out our recap website. It includes audio from training sessions, Instagram photos from the week and a Storify from each day.

If you participated in EIJ, your feedback is important to us. Please take a few moments to complete the post-event survey.

It's never too early to start thinking about EIJ14, which is Sept. 4-6 in Nashville, Tenn. Have an idea for a program you'd like to see in next year's lineup? Click here to send us your thoughts.

In what city was SPJ's fifty-year convention held?

Answer: Indianapolis

And the winner is ... Sid Hurlburt of the Washington D.C. Pro Chapter, who actually attended the fifty-year convention. Congrats!

While giving Detroit advice, the mayor of Boston told what publication that he'd "blow up" the bankrupt city (later apologizing for his lack of sensitivity to the Boston bombings last Spring)?
