She has spoken frequently at regional SPJ conferences and in 2012 at the national Excellence in Journalism Conference. Why Join SPJ?

Make a solid investment in yourself and your profession by joining the Society of Professional Journalists. Membership in SPJ is a rewarding experience that puts you at the forefront of industry happenings.

SPJ has been an industry leader for more than 100 years, and some of its activities may surprise you. Although your rights as a journalist are guaranteed under the First Amendment, the Society of Professional Journalists, both nationally and through local chapters, fights and wins battles for Freedom of Information and First Amendment rights that might not otherwise be fought at all. As a result of SPJ's grass-roots activism, we are able to address vital issues confronting today's working journalist.

Attention Newsrooms: A Newsroom Membership is the best way to show a commitment to producing high-quality, ethical journalism. It shows you support the missions of SPJ and gives your staff the opportunity to become part of the nation’s largest and most broad-based journalism association. For more information, visit this page.

Attention journalism educators and students: Becoming a Collegiate Institutional Member in SPJ is one of the easiest ways your school can demonstrate to students (and parents) its commitment to producing the best journalists possible. Furthermore, it will help expose students to the nation’s largest and most broad-based membership organization for journalists — augmenting their experience and journalism education. Please encourage your school to join SPJ as a Collegiate Institutional Member. For more information, visit this page.
