Program Description

Writing for the Web is different than writing for any other medium. To be effective online, it helps to understand how people use Web sites. See examples of great online stories, learn why it’s crucial to improve your headline writing, and take away tips and tools that will enhance your work on the Web.

About Pueng Vongs

Pueng Vongs has more than 14 years experience in online journalism. She is currently the San Francisco editor for Yahoo! She has worked as a writer, editor and producer at other outlets such as MercuryNews.com and CBS.Marketwatch.com.

Vongs began her early career in financial journalism working for Money magazine. Later, she was a writer and editor for Pacific News Service/New America Media, where she often reported from her native Thailand.

Her work has appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle, Chicago Sun Times, NPR, Asian Wall Street Journal, among others.

Vongs is past chair of SPJ's diversity committee and helps to lead online media trainings in newsrooms across the country.
