SPJ Code of Conduct: Your Feedback Wanted!

The Society of Professional Journalists is preparing a Code of Conduct for its members to foster a friendly, safe and welcoming culture. At the direction of the SPJ board, a seven-member task force plans to have standards for expected behavior in place by the annual convention in Las Vegas on Sept. 28.

Here's another chance for you to give input on the Code of Conduct that SPJ is preparing to foster a friendly, safe and welcoming culture for members. The task force convening at the request of the SPJ Board of Directors will discuss the working copy of its "participatory standards at SPJ events" at 8 p.m. EDT on Monday, Aug. 14. The task force will spend 90 minutes on a presentation of its work and a Q&A session to gather additional feedback as it prepares guidelines for the convention in September and beyond.

The task force has been meeting since June, seeking input from SPJ members, evaluating journalism organizations' codes of conduct and assessing potential standards.

You can check out the current working draft [PDF, opens in new tab] of the new participatory standards. If you would like to submit questions and/or feedback ahead of the meeting for the task force to answer and consider, you can use the form immediately below to do so.
