Deadline for Proposed Sessions: May 8, 2022
We're looking to cohost a terrific conference October 27-29 along with our partners,
Associated Collegiate Press (ACP) and College Media Association (CMA)! Interesting keynotes,
networking, special events and breakout sessions will fill our time together.
That's where you come in. We're looking for presenters who can design and deliver engaging and interesting
educational breakout sessions lasting 50 minutes.
Topics we're looking for this year include:
- Advancing Journalism (ethics; diversity, inclusion and equity; first amendment; innovations; advocacy; press freedom, etc.)
- Strengthening Journalists (career development; tools, technology, skill development; innovation; tools; newsgathering; combating disinformation, etc.)
- Building Leadership – in News and in SPJ (self-care and self-advocacy; management skills; news advocacy; personal leadership skills; group/team development; SPJ officer development; chapter programming and management; etc.)
- Career Development for College Students & Young Professionals (resume writing; interviewing tips; using LinkedIn and other social media; networking skills; etc.)
Please contribute original content, compelling topics, and interesting teaching activities/tools.
We want and need cultural, professional, regional, generational (and other) diversity in session
leaders along with topic expertise.
Interactive program design is important, and sessions should be well-planned with a strong content
flow in mind. This will help you plan your session as well as give our selection committee a sense
of your session goals. A panel could work, but the bar for acceptance of those will be much higher.
