Paul Kenneth Burns is a nationally recognized reporter specializing in politics and urban issues. He spent four years as a reporter for WYPR in Baltimore, Md. During his tenure there, he covered the police trials in the Freddie Gray case. That coverage, ultimately, earned 2nd place in the 83rd Annual National Headliner Awards. He also contributed to NPR Newscast. Prior to joining WYPR, he was the afternoon anchor for WNAV-AM in Annapolis, Md. In addition to his anchoring duties, he covered the Maryland State House and the Anne Arundel County Council in addition to general assignments. He was also host of the public affairs programs “1430 Connection” and “Capital Caucus” during regular sessions of the Maryland General Assembly. His legislative reports were heard on WNAV and WTTR-AM in Westminster, Md. He previously served as Sunday Morning/Fill-in News Anchor for WNAV. He also served as Weekend Anchor/Reporter for WBAL-AM in Baltimore where he contributed to CBS News and was a contributor to WGMD-FM in Rehoboth Beach, Del. During his 18 year professional career, Kenneth has covered three state elections, one presidential election, “Snowmageddon” and Superstorm Sandy. Kenneth is also one of the most recognized political journalists in Maryland. For four years, he was one of the most popular among political bloggers/commentators in the state. A native of Prince George’s County, Md., Kenneth, a graduate of Towson University and Anne Arundel Community College in Maryland. He is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists, the National Association of Black Journalists and the Online News Association.
