Aleigh Acerni is a Charlotte, N.C.-based writer, editor, and author who began her career as a writer, columnist, and assistant editor for a regional business newspaper in the Southeast. For five years, she was the editor of skirt!, an award-winning monthly women’s magazine with print markets across the United States. A generalist, her portfolio includes everything from gardening to youth hostels to women’s issues, and her news articles, columns, features, and personal essays have appeared in various publications and online.

She has interviewed celebrities such as playwright Eve Ensler, actresses Kristin Davis and Virginia Madsen, and pioneering chef Alice Waters. Her book, Justice at Guantanamo: One Woman's Odyssey and Her Crusade for Human Rights, co-authored with Kristine Huskey, was published by Globe Pequot Press in 2009.
