Bio (click to expand) As a staff reporter-turned-freelance journalist, Anna Pratt, who lives in Minneapolis, Minn., has ventured into garbage houses, spent the night in a homeless shelter and witnessed a fistfight in a church basement, all for various stories. Her byline has appeared in the Star Tribune, The Line, the Southwest Journal, the Minnesota Independent and several suburban and community papers, web publications and broadcast media in the Twin Cities. Pratt is active with the Society of Professional Journalists' freelance community and she serves as the treasurer for the award-winning Minnesota Pro Chapter of SPJ.

I am a passionate Writer and Editor who is experienced and has superb attention to detail. I am a soon to be graduate from Indiana University Southeast and am looking to relocate for a career in Journalism. I have an extensive background in writing, I was promoted to News Editor at my high school and Features Editor then Managing Editor at my college student newspaper. As Managing Editor, I oversaw a staff of about seven writers. As an active Editor, I not only used attention to detail to copyedit the entire newspaper, but I took in consideration of ideas from members of the student body and applied them to the newspaper. I created ideas to boost readership by making the paper more active by rewarding those who participated in contests only found in the newspaper. I was responsible for inciting interesting campus story ideas as well as informational pieces such as a spread for single people during Valentine’s Day. Aside from copy editing the 12-page newspaper, with much eagerness, I designed the layout for the News and Features section using InDesign. During my studies at Indiana University Southeast, I was expertly taught AP Style from an adjunct professor who worked as a Copy Editor for The Courier Journal. At an internship with Junior Achievement of Kentuckiana, I feel I need current experience with published work to help further my chances at a career in journalism field.
