I am a passionate Writer and Editor who is experienced and has superb attention to detail. I am a soon to be graduate from Indiana University Southeast and am looking to relocate for a career in Journalism. I have an extensive background in writing, I was promoted to News Editor at my high school and Features Editor then Managing Editor at my college student newspaper. As Managing Editor, I oversaw a staff of about seven writers. As an active Editor, I not only used attention to detail to copyedit the entire newspaper, but I took in consideration of ideas from members of the student body and applied them to the newspaper. I created ideas to boost readership by making the paper more active by rewarding those who participated in contests only found in the newspaper. I was responsible for inciting interesting campus story ideas as well as informational pieces such as a spread for single people during Valentine’s Day. Aside from copy editing the 12-page newspaper, with much eagerness, I designed the layout for the News and Features section using InDesign. During my studies at Indiana University Southeast, I was expertly taught AP Style from an adjunct professor who worked as a Copy Editor for The Courier Journal. At an internship with Junior Achievement of Kentuckiana, I feel I need current experience with published work to help further my chances at a career in journalism field.
