I have worked as a filmmaker, journalist, and author around the world, particularly in Los Angeles and the Middle East. I have written for Saveur, LA Times, Aramco World and several other publications about Middle Eastern culture, food, and entertainment. My debut novel The Night Counter (Random House 2010) was critically acclaimed by the Washington Post, Boston Globe, Entertainment Weekly and several other publications. I started out in television news and segued into documentary filmmaking, working as an associate producer on several projects. I co-directed and produced the award winning documentary "Man Hunt," which played on the Oxygen Channel as a Valentine's Day special in 2003 and 2005. I currently teach documentary filmmaking at Zayed University in Abu Dhabi.
