I am a staff writer covering city hall for The Advocate in Stamford, Conn. My beat includes the mayor's office, elected and appointed boards, municipal budget and finance as well as local and state politics.
Since joining the Advocate in 2010, I have covered Stamford's budget process and local elections, investigated municipal corruption and government transparency, and reported on complex issues involving the Water Pollution Control Authority. Breaking news coverage includes serving as the pool reporter for President Barack Obama's August 2012 fundraising visit to Connecticut and a fatal Christmas Day fire in the city's Shippan neighborhood. I have written features about World War II veterans, Sept. 11 survivors and local politicians.
In May 2012 I won first place awards for investigative and in-depth reporting series from the Connecticut Society of Professional Journalists. In August 2012 I won third place awares for continuing coverage and investigative reporting from the New England Associated Press News Executives Association.
I graduated with honors from the University of Connecticut at Storrs in 2009. After graduation I spent a year in Paris, France, where I interned with the Associated Press Television Network and International Bureau.
