am an associate professor of journalism at the University of Arkansas and a freelance journalist.
I worked as a reporter and associate editor at U.S. News & World Report, 2004 – 2008, covering a number of Washington policy battles and political races, including the 2004 presidential campaign. I was an intern and freelance writer for The Washington Post and was a Style editor and writer for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
I freelance for The New York Times. I’ve also written for Columbia Journalism Review, American Journalism Review, and National Geographic News. My work has appeared in the Los Angeles Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Chicago Tribune, the International Herald-Tribune and other publications.
