Hi! I am a freelance writer, photographer, editor and producer based in Chicago.
I have a masters degree in journalism from the Medill School at Northwestern University, where I was a 2010-11 Comer Scholar for climate change reporting, and a 2011-12 ISEN Cluster Fellow studying sustainability and energy. I have a BS in Natural Resources with Distinction in Research from Cornell University.
I'm currently Midwest Editor for The Architect's Newspaper, and my work appears regularly on WBEZ, Chicago's local public radio station. I'm a member of the Society of Professional Journalists and the Society of Environmental Journalists.
My work has appeared in The New York Times' Green blog, The Chicago Tribune, Chicago Magazine, Dwell, Architect, Next City, ScienceDaily, New Scientist, InsideClimate News, DNAinfo Chicago, Time Out Chicago, Chicagoist, Chicago Jazz Magazine, The University of Illinois Alumni Magazine, The Cornell Chronicle and elsewhere.
I was born and raised in the Albany, NY area. If I'm not reading, writing or taking photos, I'm probably playing bass or guitar.
