Freelance journalist and photographer aiming to shift the world’s perspective about international aid and development through accurate, in-depth and distinctive storytelling.
My current journalism work focuses on teasing apart the flashy slogans, emotional appeals and lofty goals of international nonprofits to uncover what’s working – and what’s not – in the world of humanitarian aid.
I specialize in covering issues of global health, international development, and nonprofit transparency and accountability, with a regional focus on East Africa.
My work has been published in many Twin Cities-based publications and I’m now searching for opportunities to expand my coverage to national and international audiences.
I have a Master of Public Health in Community Health Promotion (2013) and a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in Global Studies with minors in Spanish and Print Journalism (2008) from the University of Minnesota.
