Rebecca Sheehan is a reporter and copy editor for the Birmingham-based weekly newspaper, Weld for Birmingham. She writes fine arts, culture, breaking news and human interest stories and maintains the community events calendar. She also contributes to numerous print and online publications including I Am the F-Bomb, ANNA Magazine and The Birmingham Market Magazine. Rebecca is a volunteer newsreader on 90.3/WBHM's Alabama Radio Reading Service and an occassional voice actress for Monolith Radio and Radio Free Alabama. She was an editorial intern for ANNA Magazine for the fall semester of 2015.
Rebecca won the 2013 Region 3 Mark of Excellence Award for General Column Writing for her series No Makeup November. She was on the staff of The Auburn Plainsman when the paper won the 2013 Region 3 Mark of Excellence Award for Best All-Around Non Daily Student Newspaper. Rebecca was also voted Best Reporter by the 2013-2014 staff of The Auburn Plainsman.
Rebecca has lived all over the Southeast, from Dothan, Alabama, to Greenville, South Carolina; from Tuscaloosa to Auburn to Atlanta, Georgia. She received a bachelor’s of fine arts in acting from Auburn University in 2010, completed the Summer Acting Intensive at Circle in the Square Theatre School in New York and returned to study at Auburn’s School of Communication and Journalism in 2013. While at Auburn, Rebecca was a contributing writer and photographer for The Corner News, a reporter for the Auburn Plainsman and producer of the renegade fashion blog, Clash and Burn.
