Work has previously appeared: National Magazine, Local Television, National Radio, Local Radio

I’ve been a full-time and now freelance magazine feature writer since 1987, winning a National Magazine Award and many other awards. I wrote cover stories for Glamour, Mademoiselle, Tricycle, Self, Ms, Utne Reader and more. In 2009, I became Contributing Producer for Arizona Public Media (NPR and PBS). I cover social justice, the environment, sustainability, business, arts, culture and psychology. Early in my career as a journalist I went to grad school in social work and trained as a family systems therapist so I could better write about the family therapy field. For a decade I published a magazine for therapists that focused on the intersections of race, class, gender and sexual orientation on couples and family issues. Systems change continues to be my favorite topic to cover.
