Bio (click to expand) As a staff reporter-turned-freelance journalist, Anna Pratt, who lives in Minneapolis, Minn., has ventured into garbage houses, spent the night in a homeless shelter and witnessed a fistfight in a church basement, all for various stories. Her byline has appeared in the Star Tribune, The Line, the Southwest Journal, the Minnesota Independent and several suburban and community papers, web publications and broadcast media in the Twin Cities. Pratt is active with the Society of Professional Journalists' freelance community and she serves as the treasurer for the award-winning Minnesota Pro Chapter of SPJ.

Basically, one of my beats is Indians...as in, American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, Pacific Islanders and other indigenous-type peoples. I'm well-known throughout Indian Country (also known as Native America)as well as in mainstream media as a "go-to" person for accurate, complete coverage of issues within tribal communities. I'm an enrolled member of the Xolon (Jolon) Salinan Tribe, a Central California Indian tribe, and as a Native person myself, I love to shatter stereotypes about the cultures, challenges, and achievements of Native America in all its diversity. I've paid my dues, and today I enjoy relationships with publications ranging from Arizona Capitol Times to Native Peoples and U.S. Airways magazines. I also write for whoever else is willing to pay me.
