Annalyn Kurtz is a freelance business journalist writing for various financial publications and clients. Her articles have been published by Fortune, The New York Times, CNNMoney, Inc magazine, U.S. News & World Report and the Columbia Journalism Review.

Previously, she worked as a senior writer for CNNMoney covering the economy and the Federal Reserve. Her articles, data visualizations and social media presence have documented the slow recovery from the Great Recession with a focus on the real people behind the data.

In 2013, Kurtz launched CNNMoney’s #YourEconomy, a newsgathering tool that enables readers to contribute personal stories on economic topics. The project won an EPPY award for best use of social media and crowdsourcing.

In addition to her reporting, Kurtz has a passion for teaching. She taught the “Covering the Economy” course at CUNY Graduate School of Journalism from 2012 to 2014, and worked as a consultant on "We the Economy," a series of 20 short educational films on the economy.
