I am primarily an outdoor feature writer, covering topics such as skiing, rock climbing, mountaineering, paddling, hiking and a variety of other outdoor sports. Many of my articles are tailored to the 20-40-year-old athletic crowd or to families looking to adventure with children. I also write many environmental articles on issues ranging from wastewater treatment plants to the effects of pollution on wildlife, land and water. I am not limited to these topics though, as I write articles for business publications. I also work on various feature pieces for magazines, ranging from restaurant reviews to profiles on people and places. My work has been published in national and regional magazines, as well as newspapers. I served as the Whatcom/Skagit County SPJ Press Club Night co-chair from winter 2005-fall 2006. I am a graduate of the Missouri School of Journalism, where my emphasis was on magazine writing and editing, with investigative reporting coursework. I have a minor in Spanish and write on occasion Spanish-language articles.
