Catherine McClure earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Education from the University of Michigan, and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Berkeley. In law school, Ms. McClure received two American Jurisprudence Awards, she served as an associate editor of the Industrial Relations Law Journal, and she was a staff editor for the International Tax and Business Lawyer. Through a writing competition, Ms. McClure was also awarded a student instructorship teaching Research and Writing to first year law students at Berkeley.
Ms. McClure has been admitted to practice law in California, Illinois and Michigan. She was in private practice for 10 years, working for major commercial law firms in Los Angeles, Chicago, and Ann Arbor. She has also served as an adjunct professor of law in the business schools of Michigan State University and the University of Michigan.
Ms. McClure is a member of Scribes, the American Society for Writers on Legal Subjects, and the Society of Professional Journalists. She is affiliated with the Center for Civic Education through Law, and is a member of the American and Michigan State Bar Associations.
Ms. McClure currently works as a freelance writer on topics related to law and legal affairs. She writes the weekly "On Point" column for The Detroit Legal News and its affiliated newspapers.
