I'm a Vermonter who spends half the year in Florida. A journalist and musician for more than 25 years, I've won numerous awards for my humor column, feature writing (arts), and editorial writing. My professional passions are music (especially American traditional); science (especially astronomy); and the Celtic culture of Nova Scotia (especially the music of Cape Breton).
My award-winning humor column, Half a Bubble Off Plumb, is devoted to random, window-on-the-world whimsy that includes the fantastic (the impending gravity shortage, the inquest into the death of Humpty Dumpty); the autobiographical (why I hate cockroaches and elevator music); the observational (has anyone EVER seen a squirrel fall out of a tree?); and the literary (John Keats' poem "On First Looking Into Chapman's Homer" in modern vernacular).
