T.V. Mott was born in Phoenix Arizona, moved with his family to Ketchum, Idaho when he was 9, attended Ernest Hemingway (his literary influence) grammar school, later graduating from the University of West Florida with a BA in journalism and a minor in Italian Renaissance Art.
As a senior at West Florida he won the Robert C. Douglas writing award for fiction.
In addition to Hemingway he's also been inspired by the writings of Henry Miller, Jack Kerouac, Charles Bukowski, Jim Murray, David Halberstam, and his distinguished grandfather Lake Wellington Mott III.
Growing up T.V. had two dreams, to play centerfield for the Chicago Cubs and to become a published writer.
His baseball aspirations ended with two major shoulder injury's but not until after a tryout with the St. Louis Cardinals.
His first job after college was working in the mail room at Paramount Pictures. "Hollywood just isn't me yet" he says, "although if they decide to make a movie about my first novel then maybe we can re-visit."
He's written articles for several magazines and newspapers and seems to have a knack for sitting down with high profile people who normally avoid interviews.
T.V. Mott lives on Maui with his wife, two sons, two dogs, several chickens and a rooster named Kid Rock.
His style is open, friendly and infectious.
