Bio (click to expand) As a staff reporter-turned-freelance journalist, Anna Pratt, who lives in Minneapolis, Minn., has ventured into garbage houses, spent the night in a homeless shelter and witnessed a fistfight in a church basement, all for various stories. Her byline has appeared in the Star Tribune, The Line, the Southwest Journal, the Minnesota Independent and several suburban and community papers, web publications and broadcast media in the Twin Cities. Pratt is active with the Society of Professional Journalists' freelance community and she serves as the treasurer for the award-winning Minnesota Pro Chapter of SPJ.

Mike Beacom is a veteran writer and editor -- both in print and online. He focuses most of his freelance work in the fields of football and conservation practices. As a web publisher, Beacom’s duties include managing the content, site development and sales for a collection of sites that welcome more than a quarter-million readers each month. As an author, Beacom’s work has appeared in a number of recognizable print and Web publications, including Pro Football Weekly, E Magazine, and He is currently working on his third book entitled, “Wisconsin Badgers: Game of My Life.” More than anything else, Beacom enjoys working with young writers. He has taught a 200-level journalism course at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point since 2002, and he regularly volunteers his time to speak to high school juniors and seniors interested in careers in journalism. Beacom resides in Amherst with his partner, Lisa, and their two daughters.
