After a 17-year career of writing and editing, in 2009 I turned my sights to freelancing full-time and launched Writing Matters, LLC. Over the years I've worked for colleges and universities, in newspapers, advertising and marketing, at an engineering company and an environmental law firm. Through freelancing I've met some incredibly interesting people, including a historian who focuses on houses, an artist who makes shoes out of rope, and scientists who are exploring new ways to generate cleaner forms of energy. Altogether, I've written more than 150 articles and edited more than 600 articles. My writing and editing have garnered awards, and the publications I managed have also won awards.

I've loved stories for as long as I remember. And that's how I see everything -- as a story. In some of my favorite projects, I wrote a fictional piece about a bad trip to a fast food restaurant, a profile of a senior citizen who was once a princess in a foreign land, and a scholarly article on a scientific breakthrough in biofuels. The common bond? They're all stories.

As a writer, I like putting the information together to make it easy for readers while giving them something worthy of their time, and as an editor, I enjoy helping other writers do the same.
