Mary C. Curtis is an award-winning writer/editor/speaker/consultant, based in Charlotte, N.C. Most recently a columnist and editor at The Charlotte Observer, Curtis has also worked at The New York Times, The Baltimore Sun and the Associated Press, and was a 2006 Nieman Fellow at Harvard University. Her work has appeared in the Washington Post and on National Public Radio, The Root.com, Essence.com, EbonyJet.com and the Nieman Watchdog blog. Her coverage of the 2008 election campaign won a Green Eyeshade Award from the Society of Professional Journalists.
