I'm a former reporter for a major metro daily who took a little hiatus to attend law school and practice law in San Diego, California. Now, I'm a reluctant lawyer just aching to kick-start my journalism comeback. How's that for irony? Growing up in a sleepy little pocket of southern Indiana, I've always had stories to tell, and I was never shy about it. At eleven, I convinced the editor of my local paper, the Scripps-owned daily Evansville (Ind.) Courier and Press, to give me my on column. Six years later, I headed to the Indiana University School of Journalism on a full merit-based scholarship, where I edited the Indiana Daily Student and won Columbia Scholastic Press Association awards from my work. A Pulliam Fellowship took me to The Arizona Republic in Phoenix, where I covered crime and breaking news, won Arizona Press Club awards for my news feature writing, and appeared on CNN's Nancy Grace. Since I left the Republic and began practicing law, my work has appeared in The Indianapolis Star, The Indiana Daily Student, Bloom Magazine, Common Assessment and Quorum (both trade journals), and The (San Diego) Lawyers Club News. I write and edit a community association industry newsletter about common interest development law, and have written personal financial education articles for a major U.S. bank. I also blog about food and drink at sandelicious.wordpress.com. I welcome any and all freelance inquiries!
