I recently received my Master's in Media Studies from the School of Journalism and Communication at the University of Oregon, where I concurrently served as a Graduate Teaching Fellow for beginning, intermediate and advanced journalism classes. My thesis focused on advertising pressures in print media— specifically magazines. After graduating with my bachelor's, I received a copy editing internship with the Dow Jones News Fund Program at The Grand Forks Herald in Grand Forks, ND. While earning my Bachelor's in Journalism, I served as editor-in-chief of the student newspaper, The Commuter, at Linn-Benton Community College in Albany, Ore. and as Opinion Editor of the student newspaper, The Oregon Daily Emerald, at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Ore. I currently live in Newport, Ore. and am looking for work as a writer or copy editor on contract— I specialize in academic work as well as advertising issues and technology. I fluently speak AP and APA style. I also am in a position to write about topics specific to Western Oregon including marine science, the Pacific fishing fleet and environmental issues related to the ocean. I am especially interested in copy editing work— I took all the editing classes I could while earning my Bachelor's. As a DJNF intern and someone who had to edit the long thesis that they wrote, I'm more than capable of handling and assisting with a variety of projects. I'm happy to both edit for grammar and style as well as to line edit for content and clarity.
