Work has previously appeared: Unpublished, Community Newspaper, Local/Regional Magazine, Local Television, Online Newsmagazine

Looking forward to her May 2019 graduation, Ms. Tariq is a student studying broadcast journalism and psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University. During the Fall 2018 semester, she was news editor for The Commonwealth Times newspaper at VCU, where she began as a contributor in September 2017. Ms. Tariq continues to contribute to The CT in her current roles as staff writer — especially enjoying writing about VCU administrative updates, guest lecturers, Richmond City Council meetings and sketchy viral online trends with ambiguous underpinnings. In the Spring 2018 semester, she interned at the WTVR-TV CBS 6 station. Th internship enabled her to shadow reporters, anchors and photographers as well as pitch stories and help out at the assignment desk. Ms. Tariq, a young woman of mixed races, did research on interracial dating trends for her Rhetoric class in the Spring 2017 semester, which was accepted to be published in a VCU undergraduate research journal.
Ms. Tariq is also a Sagittarius, a green True Colors personality type and the INTJ Myers Briggs personality type — if that means anything to any of you.
