Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving, but here at SPJ we're calling it #GivingNewsDay in order to raise funds and awareness for ethical journalism, freedom of the press and the First Amendment.

Show your support by donating to any of the funds detailed below. Make a gift to support #GivingNewsDay, or set up monthly giving to show your support year-round.

Sigma Delta Chi Foundation

Donations to the Sigma Delta Chi Foundation support training and education for journalists and awards grants to the journalism community. The Foundation is a 501(C)3 charity and gifts are tax deductible.

On #GivingNewsDay, the Foundation board members are personally matching all donations of $25 or more up to $4,000.

It isn’t getting any easier to fight for press freedom. It’s getting worse. The Forever Fund is a sustained war chest to guarantee someone is always fighting for press freedom. If we don’t do it, who will?

Who we are
Since its founding in 1961, the Sigma Delta Chi Foundation has promoted excellence and ethics in journalism. The SDX Foundation is a tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) organization that supports the educational programs of the Society of Professional Journalists and serves the professional needs of journalists and students pursuing careers in journalism.

Liberty and self-government require a well-informed public. It is the responsibility of journalists to provide fair, balanced and accurate information in a comprehensive, timely and ethical manner.

The SDX Foundation helps by:
– Advocating for open government
– Promoting integrity
– Encouraging excellence
– Fostering diversity
– Inspiring new generations of talented journalists
– Protecting freedom of speech and press
