Journalists’ Emergency Fund

Deadline to apply: May 29, 2020, 5 p.m. ET

We don’t need to tell you that many journalists are facing tough times with shrinking newsrooms and reduced paychecks, but SPJ remains focused on supporting those who who keep the public informed.

Recently, the Society of Professional Journalists Foundation created the Journalists’ Emergency Fund to help those encountering temporary financial hurdles due to job loss or income reduction. Providing assistance of up to $500, this fund is intended to offer relief for those everyday expenses faced as recipients continue to seek employment. These funds do not need to be repaid, but we hope you will consider financially supporting the Foundation when times are better in the near future.

Please complete the application below and provide as much detail as possible regarding your current situation. Funding is available to both members and non-members of SPJ. You will receive feedback from the committee within two weeks of submitting your application. This information will be kept completely private.

Any questions can be directed to emergencyfund@spj.org.

Sorry, the deadline to apply has passed.
